Through found objects, paintings, installations and performance art, Yonsenia

White's mixed media work explores social constructions of race, gender, desire

and identity. She gives lectures by and about artists from marginalized and

underrepresented groups whose artwork engages in personal, political and social

activism. White also presents papers at regional and national art conferences

about her award-winning teaching pedagogy in her conceptually based studio

courses.

White's research interests have lead to interdisciplinary projects and teaching

opportunities in the Women’s Studies Program, the Department of Industrial &

Systems Engineering and the

Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech.

Her work is part of permanent and private collections and has been exhibited in

over forty juried, group and solo shows in New York City, Chicago, San

Francisco and other cities throughout the country.
