Glyphx is the student run print shop for SOVA students. All work printed at Glyphx is produced at cost on industry standard fine art inkjet and graphic design laser printers.
To use Glyphx you need to be a SOVA student and purchase SOVA print units from the Virginia Tech Bookstore on campus. A print unit is a square foot of printing or a cubic percentage of 3D prototyper modeling material.
At Glyphx, we have a two-day turn around time. This turn around time is because we have as many as 11 classes needing work often with overlapping deadlines. If you stop by Glyphx to drop off work and there are currrently no jobs pending, we will happily print your work while you wait.
In order to help us provide you with the type and quality of print you need for your assignments, please adhere to the following:
We ONLY print on Epson Media using Epson Inks.
Drop off image types - pdf saved without editing capabilities (can be done in
the save pdf dialog box) or flattened psd only.
You must fill out and drop off a glyphx job sheet before any work will be
printed, and if you have any special instructions for your document they MUST be
listed.
You may not bring in a print job the day it is due for class and expect it to be
printed on time. There is two-day turn around due to multiple classes and
projects being turned in at once.
Please specify which type of printer you want your job to be printed on, ink jet
or laser, and please know the difference. Your professors can inform your class of
the difference in quality and price as well as size limitations for each.
If using text in Illustrator, make sure you outline the text (command + shift +
o) before you submit it.
